Mid-Shropshire Ramblers Parish Paths Partnership (P3) Group

We are Steve Lowe & Hilary Procter and are volunteers who recently took over as Co-ordinators of the Mid-Shropshire Ramblers Parish Paths Partnership (P3) Group.

We, with our small group of volunteers, are keen walkers and passionate about keeping Public Rights of Way open. We have been historically allocated the Parishes of Bayston Hill, Church Pulverbatch, Great Hanwood, Ratlinghope & Smethcott. We work closely with Shropshire Council Access Maintenance Team who provide us with materials, equipment and advice to carry out work within our remit.

We are endeavouring to walk all the public footpaths in the allocated Parishes to identify problems and put together schedules of work. We have recently replaced and repaired stiles, cut back vegetation and erected fingerposts in Church Pulverbatch, which had been identified through complaints received. We have walked the public footpaths and bridleways in Great Hanwood and identified a few jobs that we can do with Landowners permission. We have begun to look at paths in Ratlinghope.

We ourselves live outside all the Parishes and feel it could be useful if people living in the area who identify any local public footpaths access problems contact us and we could look at the problem to see if the group could improve them. We would also be keen to hear from anyone wishing to join our group of volunteers. You may email us here.

We are also keen to know if there is any work being done locally regarding improving the public footpaths in your area. We are willing to talk further with you about the work we do. If you wish to know more about the P3 scheme you could also contact the Countryside Recreation Officer on 01743 791984.
